Grrl Power (not a typo)
So, I don’t usually do fan arts. Not because I don’t want to (I have a long list of stuff I would totally adapt to my “style” so as it is) but rather because having a day job, I have to choose carefully how I invest my drawing time. A strip three times a week has a nasty habit of eating at that drawing time. At any rate, I found myself with some spare time and the will to do things other than Atomic Laundromat characters and chose of Dave Barrack’s characters as my victim inspiration.
This is Sydney, from David’s comic Grrl Power. Dave’s comic is all about superpowered females going about their superpowered business, so of course it might be up your alley — although judging by my stats today, a lot of you actually came from over there. Whatever the case may be, make sure you check out his extensive archive and his current saga. Just promise you will come back.
Love your interpretation. You have captured Halo’s hug-me aura, just right.
So this is what Sydney looks like with a manic/crazy/angry look on her face. ^_^
withwithoutshe looks so harmless in this picture
Already know (and read) Grrrl Power. I love it, and your rendition of Sidney, though lacking goofiness (a *very* important trait, in Sidney, along with Geekiness), is nice to look at.
By the way, another great superhero comic would be Evil, Inc., it has a HUGE archive, and is really good, IMHO.
And don’t worry, we’ll always need to clean our capes and spandex suits, so the Laundromat is quite safe
never actually posted in here, but finally had to. Read GrrlPower on this suggestion. and thank you. i’m loving every part of this, and have to look forward to it continuing. hopefully it doesnt go the path of VGcats though.
in short. thanks for the referral!
I greatly enjoy Grrl Power. The humor is wonderfully slapstick and funny. Some very good writing and I’m waiting to see what happens later. We do know that sense the beginning is several months later and Sydney has finished her training; she’s referred to as corporeal by Maxima that much has happened. I patiently wait to see what happens with great anticipation and future enjoyment.
Hence why I’m here. DaveB mentioned this at his site and led us to another wonderful comic. Your art and comic are great.
Been a long time since I’ve commented. But this is excellent! I had to say so.
One thing needs to be pointed out to the few people who haven’t already been reading Grrl Power: it has been going for about 10 years or so, and still on it’s first day
Oh, and the ‘first day’ is a flash back as well
it’s only been like 4 years, thank you! =P
Really? Hmm, must have gotten corn-fuzzled with all the comics that have been going for over 10 years
It’s odd seeing Sydney in such an adorable and demure pose. However, I like it.
Odd seeing Sydney wearing a dress
Touche.
She must be running a scam to score some extra-beyond-native-hot Thai food
Yeah, I already read both GP and AL but I just had to “SQUEEE!” at this.
Any chance of a crossover story?
Seems unlikely. AL has at least two generations of publicly acknowledged superheroes, most of who seem to be independant, GP supers are only just now being acknowledged by the US government, and have been told that if they want to fight crime they must join ARC. We’d have to have some sort of paratemporal rift.
On a completely different subject, why doesn’t my spelling dictionary have paratemporal in it?
I tried commenting this morning on your DeviantArt page but the comments section was having a hissy fit. Basically was going to agree that its A-dork-able. Would love to see your rendition of Marissa from 3 Minute Max ( If people like Atomic Laundromat and Grrl Power they will love that as well. http://www.3mm-crisisstrike.com/3mmcomic/striking-sparks-page-thirty-four/) as you have a very unique style and always nice to see another artists take on a character.
Incidentally I like the new web page layout, very neat.
Thanks! I’ll definitely check out that comic, there may be more fanarts in the future.
I’ve already commented about this picture on his deviantART posting, but to more or less reiterate, even for you this is ridiculously adorable, as in “I have to make myself stop looking at the picture” adorable. BTW, everyone else, click on the picture to get the full effect from the larger version.
