Battle garb

Well, there she is. We’ll see if some of the things I’m planning do pay off, but one step at a time.

Juno’s pose and redesign is to make sure she’s a no-nonsense warrior for what’s to come. I would also be remiss in not pointing out that I got heavy inspiration (to a very, very big degree) by the work of the talented Rahzzah, in particular his Wonder Woman redesign which made the Internet rounds a few months ago. Do yourself a favor and check out his DeviantArt at http://rahzzah.deviantart.com/.

So, am I the only one who’s sad it’s not the famously skimpy outfit of hers that’s been mentioned several times?

  2. Wolfen says:

Aw, but those are perfectly valid questions!

On a side note, I think I’ve just discovered a rather striking resemblance

  3. eric says:

    Nice! Love that look, Juno!

  4. stjerne says:

Good thing David owns a laundromat because I am certain he needs to wash his shorts.
I would need to change if an employee jammed a knife through a door.

However, as everyone else has comment Juno looks great. So I take it that David’s sister is ushering in the latest doomsday prediction.

  5. Ajax says:

Wow — Juno really looks hot! A confident purposeful woman usually is, of course. Great entrance.

  6. Marscaleb says:

While we are on the subject, when exactly did she lose her powers? I recall it was a fact that just showed up one day, and I never got to see why it happened.

    Also, awesome suit.

    • adamas says:

It’s not that she really LOST her powers, just that they couldn’t SEE what was happening when it involves Dave and the Laundromat, Which let Juno experience something she never had before. Surprise.

  7. I can't remember the name I commented under says:

She kinda reminds me of a Sister of Battle with that getup.

  8. Trisscar says:

1- Sadism Core, first panel; “Had”, not “Has”.
2- David, second panel; “In my door”, not “On my door”.

    • Norman says:

      1. Nope, I’m pretty sure “has” is right; the past part of that verb tense is with the main verb, “been”, same as with David’s “has cleaved” in the next panel. “had been” wold imply that some was already eviscerated at some point in the past. When the SC recounts this scene to the Empress, it might say, “Regrettably, no human had been eviscerated.”

      2. Good catch. “Through my door” is also good.

    • JKelley says:

In that context, “has” is correct. However, you are correct – the second gaffe should read “… IN my door.”

    • mist says:

there’s a question mark between the two phrases.
It would go well without the question mark, and “had”…. if only written English had method of indicating dripping sarcasm. :)

  9. ColdFusion says:

I love outfits like that.. with cool pauldrons..
though it always begs the question of how you can swing your arms with all that attached shoulder and chest armor..

    • Dr_Duck says:

Okay, that was my immediate thought also, about possible restricted movement. Those cuffs need to be able to rotate.

Immediate, yet simultaneous with WOAH !! all RIGHT JUNO!!

    • I can't remember the name I commented under says:

Rule of Cool, man. It’s the Rule of Cool.

  10. OhHaiMe says:

Doesn’t everybody keep battle armor jammed in the back of the toilet in case of emergency?
I mean that’s just common sense.

  11. adamas says:

Looks good on her actually. I’m less concerned on where she hid the armor as when she had it made. That’s a top-of-the-line unit right there.

  12. Arwing says:

She clearly has it on loan from Rei ~

  13. JKelley says:

Suit was hidden in Hammerspace (duh – it’s a comic!)
It’s amazing what you can do with a knife, if you’re good (kinda like the hair, actually.)

WRT “Connecting the dots” – what’s been happening offscreen? I’m sure some of what Juno is referring to has been “outside our notice,” simply by dint of happening O/S. (I would normally say I’m pretty good at connecting dots – people are convinced I’m psychic, but I just notice & process more than most people – but I’d have to go back and peruse the archives to start putting this all together. While it’s ENJOYABLE noise to me, this – and other – webcomic(s) still fall on the wrong side of my personal “signal-to-noise” ratio, just because there’s too much going on personally…)

    • micko says:

Fortunately, it was hidden in hammerspace and not in hammertime, the extra space in the suit’s pants would be very weird

    • micko says:

Reading the early strips, i realized we never knew what happened with the duckling from the egg david laid when bitten by the duck… May be important?

  14. Flaagan says:

Ok, I’ll just say what everyone’s thinking… Hot damn!

  15. Anon says:

    EVA-01, Metroid, Cmdr. Shepard…

Battle Suit Juno was a surprise, that’s for sure.

As is Atomic Scary Knife Hair Salon.

Poor David. All HE has for now is his Powers of Near Delusion. He’s SO hosed without a powersuit. ;D

    • Dr_Duck says:

I wonder if she’s setting appointments at Atomic Scary Knife Hair Salon … I need a trim and my regular cutter is good, and competent, but a little bo-ring …

  16. Norman says:

Nice armor! And what are her other powers? I’m going to guess that most of them are either psioncs or gadgets…

  17. The Aussie Bloke says:

“One” of her powers? She’s been holding out on us!

  18. xero says:

okay myfist question where did she park Eva unit 01
