Now that you mention it, it kinda reminds me of the way the camera always shows just the tops of the characters’ heads in Lucky Star, presumably to accentuate their small stature.

I _love_ how in the middle panel David’s face is peeking over the lines, and then his Dad’s full face is there, and then the laundromat… very nice. If I knew more about arty stuff, I’d rattle off something about dynamics or whatever, but I don’t, so I have to leave it as,”it looks like a thing that people do that has a name, it’s cool.”
